Art Journal

As soon as I saw France's art journal project over on the PA blog earlier this week, I was hooked.  France used a mini-canvas for hers. I didn't have anything small enough so I took apart a 21 x 14 cm canvas, sawed some new mitred corners, reduced it down 14 x 13 cm, re-attached the canvas through the new frame as opposed to across it and carried on from there. I also took it as an opportunity to use up my stash of odd papers to give different surfaces to work on. 

Like France's project, I attached the doors to the front of the frame (made from mount board). I  used up some spare pieces of canvas for the hinges. The surface of the frame and the outer covers of the journal have all been crackled and heavily distressed to make it look as scruffy as possible.  The little star and ribbon were actually off a bought birthday card for another member of the family that was about to go in the rubbish bin.

It's a long time since I've done a coptic stitch binding but it's not complicated once you look at a YouTube video. (What would be do without YouTube!).  The whole thing is actually about 5 cm deep with it's frame attached and a lovely chunky size to draw in.  Thanks France for a fab project!

PBS Doodles and Daters - Journal Pages

The new PBS stamps are perfect for journalling so this afternoon I set to and added to my journal pages.  (click in the image for a more detailed view)  The journal I made previously in a class with Sarah Anderson at the Stamp Attic (see here).

Paperbag Studios have just released a new sheet of rubber (yay!!)  which I have had a chance to play with this afternoon.  There are a lot of stamps on this plate.

I think these little houses are going to be a favourite but the others you'll be able to use in all sorts of different ways. See what your imagination comes up with!

Fun with Flowers at Paperbag Studios and PDCC 37

This flower is made with Tim Holtz's Tatterered Florals die and I used the thistle stamp from the Little Feet plate as my inspiration.

.... and as Sarah wants to reach 100 entries on Play Date Cafe (PDCC37)  this week I've entered it into their challenge as well . I thought it might be stretching it slightly colourwise but looking at some of the other entries, maybe not!

My dearest friend Pen, who I've known way longer than I haven't known her, is going through a tough time at the moment. She was diagnosed with breast cancer recently and yesterday had a mastectomy. She's been unbelievably up beat (most of the time) and I'm so proud of her. So I've made her a tag with a little case for it to go in.

Some of you may know Pen through her work with Craftstamper and The Stamp Bug. I know she would really appreciate any support offered at the moment so if you fancy sending her a card, just let me know and I'll pass on her address (no spammers pleeeze!!!)

This has always been one of my fave Paperbag Studios stamps not only because of the obvious joy in the girl's face but also because of the great sentiment down the side. The second pic just shows the detail of how I attached the ribbon to the tag with wire.

Acetate Panel

I recently made some backgrounds with my new Crafty Notions sprays. They've just added some new colours (sigh...). I didn't really have anything in mind when I started out but ended up with an acetate panel. They're held together with jump rings and because the acetate is quite a heavy weight stand up happily. These stamps are from the PBS Delight plate.

PBS - hanging

I bought this huge set of scrapbook papers from QVC recently. A lot of them have quotes to do with family or life on them, slightly distressed looking and colour variety across the spectrum. This is one of them in conjunction with one of the Paperbag Studio stamps which you can buy separately or as part of a full plate. The colour is actually slightly more orange than this.

I'm completely hooked on this little face stamp from the new PBS plate. This is probably only the second ever scrapbook page I've done. It's 8 x 8. I love this style of distressing and tearing the edges.

The TGIF theme this week is Secret Garden, hosted by multi-talented Jo Capper Sandon. I enjoyed making this.

Be Inspired!

I thought the shape of this book was very interesting when I saw it on the Kaisercraft site but it was too big for me so I halved the dimensions. Papers are by K&Co and rub ons Rhonna Farrer. Front cover was done digitally with some Rhona Farrer borders, plus some Paper Whimsy images and Paperbag Studio stamps. I might add a few more bellies over the next few days but I've run out of steam for the moment. LOL For more detail click on the pics.

Welcome to MY home

I got the new Paperbag Studios plate last week and had a chance to finish a project yesterday evening. My son wants this for his bedroom door LOL! As it was quite a long piece it's probably easier to view if you click on it to enlarge it.

Windsong

Had to take about 20 photos of this one before I was satisfied I had a good copy. It either flashed or the day light shone too much off the acetate overlay. I'm going to have to get PSE5 and learn to manipulate photos. Now I have to find someone to give it to!

Another Zutter

I love this little book. It's not very fancy as I'm going to carry it around with me. I am having such fun with this machine!
