Quick knits

My mum's next door neighbour recently bought two balls of the popular frilly ribbon in the hope of teaching her granddaughter to knit but once she looked at the yarn, she realised it would be way too fiddly and she kindly passed them on to me.

Once I'd had a look at a YouTube video (you can find instructions for anything there!), two evenings later I had two pretty frilly scarves. Anyone who's knitted with these will know that the yarn comes as a flat ribbon and you have to spread it apart as you go in order to knit it up.  It looks a bit like fishing net.

Here's a card I made earlier which is winging it's way in the post tomorrow to a forum friend.  The butterflies are a TH on the edge die.

Still here ....

I haven't gone away - just got the knitting bug.

I've got quite a few bags of wool/cotton yarns in the loft so I sorted them all out into their colour groups and decided to knit a waistcoat using all my blues and greens (my fave colours).  Watch this space.... lol.

A bit of knitting....

I have to thank Joanne for another slightly bonkers character courtesy of Rebecca Danger who's knitting patterns can be found here.  He now stands beside the PC with my ipod inside. I decided he didn't really need a mouth as the opening for the pocket doubles up as the same and he looks like he's ready to gobble anything. lol

A change of scenery....

A friend of mine has recently had a baby so over the past few months I've been making this.  Had to do a final rush to finish it and get it off as soon as possible as he's a bouncing 10lb 2 oz (4.610kg) and he'll be grown out of it before long! LOL

and here's close up for all you knitters.

It's an interesting pattern. You start off with one square that's decreased on the diagonal and build up from there. I'm doing myself a waistcoat in the same pattern with a random cotton yarn.  It might look really naff on me when it's done but the completed version at the Hobbycraft show looked fab.

Socks

There seems to have been a lot of sock knitting going on this winter so I dug out the double ended needles which have nearly rusted away through lack of use (well not quite! LOL) and made these....... They're VERY cosy.

Meet Sackboy

Anyone who's child has a PS3 will probably have come across this little character from Little Big Planet. There was a free knitting pattern in the current issue of Simply Knitting so I was persuaded that I would like to make him LOL. He's VERY cute and about 10.5" tall (about 25 cm).
