So I folded under pressure (from myself mainly) and bought a Gelli plate. What fun!! - although anyone who's got one will know that anyway. I've been playing this afternoon with no plan in mind at all. Just me and my stencils and acrylic paints.
Here's a selection of some of the samples:
Love the detail on the one below. I've got a bit of a thing for blood cells and histopathology slides so these two samples are right up my street.
... and if you don't like the result you can just keep on layering and adding different colours and stencil patterns or using anything that you can make a pattern with - eg a comb, bottle tops, bubble wrap, the plastic wrapping from your satsumas - you get the idea...
I had to try fabric too..
... it seems to work just as well (more cellular patterns).
If you haven't got one and like experimenting and getting messy, I can highly recommend a Gelli plate to keep you amused. :)

hehehehe...see you've been gripped by the Gelli fever - and boy doesn't eat paper once you get going lol You've certainly created some interesting backgrounds there.
I knew you would enjoy playing with it ;-)
I love your blood cells and all of the sheets you've shown, have you tried cutting various fruit a veg in half then printing them onto the plate to remove some of the paint?
I like the sound of Gelli plates but have so far resisted buying yet another piece of 'stuff'.
However, I love your samples - they look really interesting and very inspiring. I can feel my resolve weakening.
Stop it, stop it, stop it - I do not need one!!
Seriously though they are great fun aren't they!!
Love your makes, can't wait to see what becomes of them!!!!

I keep seeing the fabulous effects of these on people's blogs and I just know I'm going to have to get one sooner or later - I'm off to check them out right now! Love the backgrounds you've created! Julie Ann xxx
Great samples and very intriguing Carol. Mine is still untried :-(. We have a busy and stressful time here for the next few weeks so I think a good play might be my promised treat to myself when everything settles down again, lol!

Ooh, you have been having fun! Love your histopathology slides (thank you for that word, I love it!), and your fabric prints look great. Look forward to seeing what you create with all that yummy colour and layering.
