Enjoy the Journey

I've been playing with this project for a while and finally finished it. The idea came from this video  on YouTube.  If you've never come across Laura and Following the Paper Trail and want a book template, she has a huge amount of projects and mini books on YouTube and can often be found broadcasting live on UStream.  The book pages are basically made from envelopes so you can put inserts (tags, mini-books etc) inside the envelopes which are open at the ends. I used basic bookbinding techniques and mat board for the cover.

To avoid a picture heavy post, I've spent the day playing with Windows Live Movie Maker for the first time and I recommend it if you've never tried it before.  I've had great fun.  Interestingly, I lost some clarity uploading into Blogger so it's not as high definition as I would like it to be but it's all a learning curve!

I used some gorgeous double sided Paper Artsy papers which I've had in my stash for ages.  I'm not actually sure if they're still available but they are a good weight and it takes the stress out of trying to match everything.  Now I just need to arrange a trip somewhere so I can fill it with photos and journalling :)

Me again! It's not merely great it's a fantastic book and I'm so glad I watched the film! The journal inserts are gorgeous and there are so many details I would have missed if I hadn't pressed play. Thanks for sharing your wonderful project in this way and I urge everyone who leaves a comment to look at your little film or miss out!

Ooh, I love envelope books - one of the first I ever made was made of envelopes and I was looking at it yesterday... lovely. Will try to watch your vid later, but I'm not a big vid person - I know, I'm weird x

I had actually seen this book & tried to play with it some time ago but then banished it to the back of the craft list.

Great little video & I love the completed thing!!!

I haven't managed to leave a comment for ages (life's been a bit of b... recently) but this is a fab project to throw my hat in once again, lol! It's an absolutely stunning book and one of those works of art that you need to keep coming back to as there are so many wonderful details that you never catch until you've looked over and over again.

Loved the film of all the different elements of your lovely design. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Thanks for the link too. Off to have a look now as I love making books.
