A change of scenery....

A friend of mine has recently had a baby so over the past few months I've been making this.  Had to do a final rush to finish it and get it off as soon as possible as he's a bouncing 10lb 2 oz (4.610kg) and he'll be grown out of it before long! LOL

and here's close up for all you knitters.

It's an interesting pattern. You start off with one square that's decreased on the diagonal and build up from there. I'm doing myself a waistcoat in the same pattern with a random cotton yarn.  It might look really naff on me when it's done but the completed version at the Hobbycraft show looked fab.

What an unusual pattern and so effective Carol. I bet your waistcoat looks great. I've just reknitted a cardigan I made a year ago and hated it on me. The wool was quite expensive so I couldn't waste it - thank goodness the reknit looks OK.

I love the pattern and colours. I can't knit because I don't have the know how to fix mistakes.

Carol, I love the baby cardigan. It is a stunning pattern. I have got to have a go....been collecting wool for years.

Looks quite tricky, though.
You have inspired me!!

Love the cardi Carol but all I can say is 'OUCH!' What a whopper of a baby. Our 6 week old grandee is just 10lb 8oz.
Can't wait to see your waistcoat, I bet it'll be fab, x

Ooh, that's nice, Carol. I do miss knitting. Great colour mix. I like that pattern - very unusual, as you say. Was it knitted all together or was it in squares, then sewn together?

Oh, this is lovely Carol. I'm sure your friend is going to love it. The colours are beautiful and it's a very modern looking design. Wow, over 10lb in weight - that's some bonny baby!

Lovely little cardi, the rainbow colours are gorgeous and I love the square design. Looks almost as though it's been crocheted.
