Remains of the Day workshop - finished.

A few posts back, I showed you the cover of the journal I was making with the Remains of the Day online workshop with Mary Ann Moss. The inside of the book is very different from the cover as it's mainly stitched together paper. Mary Ann suggests using up all those old scraps that you think you'll never use. I went round the house ripping up pages from old brochures, motorbike manuals (don't tell my husband!), telephone books etc. As you can see I ended up working in chaos.

I've put in some of the pages below just so you can get an idea. It's a fab workshop and I highly recommend it, particularly if you don't feel confident as a stitcher and would like to do more. The more wonky your stitching the better and nothing needs to be fastened off!!

Some pages will really just be for decoration rather than journalling.

The page above shows a pocket made from a cut up plastic folder, journalling spot and acetate pocket. (on the right)

You can see from this page the different types of paper I used for each page. This one alone has acetate, scrapbook card, paper, instruction manual and an old stamp catalogue. I've created a pocket with an old Ecoline ink and salt background to store post cards or tickets - any ephemera that you might collect whilst on holiday.

Some journalling spots on this page as well as another small pocket, bits of old lace, a page from a storybook, an old acetate and alcohol ink background that I made etc etc. The list is endless. Now I need a trip somewhere to that I can fill it!!

Your chaos looks very interesting Carol and your journal pages are gorgeous. I've never made that type of book but will have to have a go. I'm off to find that website!

These "messy" Remains of the Day journals fascinate me. I like yours very much. Keep creating...

Not any old chaos, creative chaos - which is always a good look. Thanks for allowing us a peek inside your journal. Love all the textures and colours. Lynne
