Christmas Noel

We put up the decorations on Monday and there are a few items that I made in my stitching era. This is one of my favourite pieces, partly because of the detail and all the different techniques that were employed. The hardanger was the scariest. Basically this is a drawn thread work technique where you stitch then cut away the unstitched spaces that are left. All that hard work, one snip in the wrong place and that's it. Eeek!! LOL

For the stitchers who are interested, this is the opposite to Lefkara lace (which the Cypriots produce) where they cut and draw the threads first before stitching. Dunno which is worse really! Here's a more detailed pic which you click on.
