A table runner and some mats

I've got a couple more quilting projects tonight.  I finished this Japanese fabric table runner today.  I'm really pleased with it.  It's a lovely texture and the colours are so peaceful.

There was some decorative hand stitching called sashiko.

Basically it's a running stitch and the stitches must all be exactly the same size and never cross each other.
I did manage to avoid them crossing each other but they are definitely not all the same size.

And in my quilting class (the above was a side project!) I've been making table mats.

I never realised quilting took so long - especially the speed I go.

And because there was some fabric left over I made some coasters too.  Unfortunately I ran out of red, hence the cream binding on one of them lol.

Stunning and exquisite sewing on all your projects. I really don't enjoy quilting as i am not at all patient and really bad at maths,(i tend to go to sleep when people talk numbers lol).

Beautiful hand stitching, looks like your stitches are fairly even to me, the designs are simple and really enhance your table runner.

Fantastic mats and coasters, love all the detailed stitching on them :-) xxx

No wonder you are pleased with your patchwork Carol - it is gorgeous. I love the fabrics you have chosen and the stitching is beautiful. Hand quilting takes ages but it is worth taking your time. I'd be afraid to use those lovely table mats in case someone spilt gravy or red wine on them!

Thanks for your comment on my blog Carol. I think subconsciously my thinking must be influenced by the course, but this project is being done purely for my own pleasure and I am not aware of working in a different way.
